Getting to Glastonbury

Most visitors arrive by car or by bus 376. The 376 runs between Bristol and Yeovil and calls at Bristol Temple Meads, Wells, Glastonbury, Street, Somerton and Ilchester. The timetable below is valid from 21 September 2026.

The nearest railway station is Castle Cary, as the National Trust names it for the Tor. That does not give the town centre a direct train link, so plan for a bus or taxi on the last stretch.

Bus fares

Single fares published for use from 4 January 2026.

Single fares in the West of England zone

A single costs £2.60 for journeys up to 6 miles and £3 for journeys over 6 miles. This is a zone and distance fare, not a flat price for every Somerset route.

Tap on, tap off

For journeys on the 376 between Wells and Street, the daily cap is £5. Use the same card or device when you board and when you get off.

Wells and Cheddar

Bus 126 links Wells with Cheddar and Weston-super-Mare. A weekday example from the timetable valid from 21 September 2026 is Wells at 11:10 and Cheddar Tweentown at 11:50, 40 minutes. First announced a diversion for works at Draycott from 1 September to 16 October 2026, with several stops between Cheddar and Wells not served. Check the current timetable before you travel.

Glastonbury parking

The two town car parks, with the published 2026 charges.

St John's, Northload Street09:00 to 18:00, every day–Open round the clock. No height barrier. Public toilets

At Butt Close you pay by coin machine or through the National Parking Platform. A valid Blue Badge exempts you from charges in standard bays, but not in electric vehicle charging bays. One online provider adds a 15p convenience fee for each tariff listed, so the fee applies to that route and not to every payment app.

Motorhomes, caravans and trailers may park at both car parks, and you pay for every bay they take up. That does not mean you may stay overnight or camp there. For the Tor, see the Glastonbury Tor page, because there is no general parking at the hill.

Getting to the Tor

The Tor Bus runs a loop from St Dunstan's Car Park with stops on Magdalene Street and Stonedown Lane. The operator lists it from early April to the end of September, every half hour from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00. The information centre gives an adult return as £5 and a child aged 5 to 16 as £2.50. Under 5s are free.

Outside the season, walk from town or use the pay car park on Chilkwell Street. Check the current timetable before you go.

Rooftops of Glastonbury

Getting to the festival

The festival is on Worthy Farm, not in the town, and it has its own transport rules.

Car park pass

For 2027 the car park pass costs £60, plus £3 postage and packing. You order it separately and buy it with the April balance payment.

Shuttle from Castle Cary

In the past, ticket holders could take a free shuttle from Castle Cary station to Gate A, from Wednesday to Monday. The 2027 bus plan is not confirmed, so do not plan on that service until the festival announces it.

Coaches

Coach seats are paid for separately and must be used on the assigned journey. Read the festival tickets page for the rules.

Before you drive

Roadworks can change your journey.

Somerset Council listed works at junction 21 of the M5, on the A370 towards Weston-super-Mare, on 29 September 2026. They included narrow lanes, one closed lane and a 50 mph limit, with no end date shown. Check the council's roadworks pages for the day you travel.
